You know the drill by now… major chocolate event fast approaching so it’s time to start planning some serious movement!
Easter is only just round the corner so we’ve got not one, BUT TWO special virtual challenges to walk, run or wheel your way around before collecting some seasonal bling!
Our first challenge is to complete 15km between March 10 and April 10. We don’t mind whether that means completing the distance in one go or in as many chunks of your fitness journey as it takes.
And it’s you up to you how you do it: Run, walk or wheel – as long as you don’t drive 😂
The second challenge is to do 30km in the same time period. We have two fantastic medals, one for each virtual race.
Entry costs £12, with £5 from challenge one going to Deanshanger Hedgehog Rescue, and the same amount from challenge two entries going to Animals in Need.
Of course, as ever with our virtual challenges, it’s all about getting out, keeping fit and earning yourself one of our amazing medals as well.
What are the challenges?
Our first Easter challenge – the 15km Rabbit Run – is to run, walk or travel in your wheelchair a total of 15km between March 10 and April 10, so you can get your medal in time for Easter.
If you complete this virtual race you will get one of our fantastic medals – as pictured above.
The second challenge – the 30km Rabbit Run – sets the higher distance of 30km in the same time period.
You can do both virtuals in one go or maybe break them down in to as many different distances as you see fit.
It’s really entirely up to you – pick your challenge, smash it out the park and pick up our funky medal!
As ever, we don’t insist on seeing proof – we’re trusting souls and you’d only be cheating yourselves! – but if can let us know when you’ve finished, or perhaps send us some pictures to share on our social media channels, that’d be great.

Our Easter charities
This charity does exactly what is says on the tin: Providing first aid, care and rehab to help our local hedgehog population.
Here’s some vital advice if you do find a hedgehog that needs help:
You’ve probably heard that if you see a hedgehog out in the day then it’s ill… this is not always the case! The key question is “is the hedgehog moving purposefully?”
Females may be seen moving nests, feeding, or cooling if her nest is in the sun. The best thing to do is observe and see whether they return to their nest.
A hedgehog may need help if:
* It appears lethargic
* It appears to be sunbathing’ (hedgehogs don’t sunbathe)
* Or if it is allowing flies to settle on it.
If a hedgehog does need help:
* carefully place it in a high sided cardboard box (they’re good climbers!)
* Include a covered hot water bottle or heat pad, then also cover the hedgehog with a light coloured towel – even in summer as a sick or stressed hedgehog will suffer from hypothermia so it’s important to keep them warm
* Do not offer any feed, only water, as the energy required to digest the feed can often cause them to deteriorate further
