Shoes, history, running, Step Forward With Lewis! What more could you want?
Later this month I will be holding the first of two Shoe Runs in the town in association with Northampton Museum.
Many of you will remember the pre-pandemic Shoe Runs which we did, and these tours will aim to build on the ethos of those events.
Starting at Abington Park Museum and finishing at the museum and art gallery in the town centre, the tours will take in the sites (and sights!) of Northampton’s boot and shoe factories.
There will be insights into what has been the town’s most prestigious industry and at the end of the run you will be treated to a hot drink and pastry of your choice in the museum’s café.
Our first tour will be a running tour on Sunday, June 26 followed up by a walking tour on Sunday, July 3.
Both events will cost £8.50 (plus a booking fee).
The tours will last about one hour and all abilities are welcome, although the tours are only suitable for over 18s.
Booking is essential and this can be done via the museum’s website.
