Step Forward With Lewis was born as a running club. Our early years were spent as a voluntary-run, free club putting on Fartlek and hill sessions, as well as chatty runs.

The development of SFWL has seen us become a fully-fledged business with classes and sessions as diverse as Get Up & Go!, Boxercise and strength & cardio, as well as personal training, virtual runs, classes in schools, care homes and for those with dementia and heart issues – not to mention the Running Tales podcast.

Along the way, the running side of SFWL has taken more of a back seat – but that is about to change. We want to go back to our roots and embrace the running club element of what we do.

With that in mind, we will be starting the official Step Forward With Lewis Running Club from Monday, May 1, 2023. Becoming a member of the club will cost just £10 for the year, and you’ll get access to all our running sessions as well as a host of other benefits.

Annual membership will run from May to May each year. If you join between May 1 and December 31 each year, your membership will run until the following May 1. If you join between January 1 and April 30, your membership will also run until the following May 1 – meaning you effectively get 16 months for the price of 12 in the first year you join.

Please note, in year one (starting May 1, 2023) all memberships start on that first day.

What you get…

  • We will add you to the Step Forward With Lewis group on Strava (unless you expressively ask us not to)
  • Access (unless you expressively ask us not to) to our monthly SFWL newsletter (email address required)
  • A month of free access to our running website on Substack, https://runningtales.substack.com (usually worth £5; email address required)
  • Free entry to one of either a) our virtual runs, b) our Shoe Run tours, or c) a SFWL fitness training sessions, ie.. Boxercise or Strength & Cardio (usually worth £5)

** We will aim to put on at least two sessions every week, but due to other work commitments and holiday/leisure commitments, we cannot guarantee upfront that this number of sessions will happen each week, on which days they will happen or what sessions will be held each week. What we can guarantee is that for your £10 we will put on a minimum of 20 sessions (probably far more!) across the year.

*** Please note, you should check with a medical practitioner if you have any health concerns before starting any kind of exercise. Please notify your run lead prior to every run if you have any medical conditions they need to be aware of.

**** Money payable in-person to Michelle or via BACS prior to or at your first session. Please be aware that if you have not paid your membership, you won’t be able to take part in any of our sessions or runs.
