From Rudolf runners to mental health champions, beep test blasters to 1,000 mile movers, it’s been a busy time for our Steppers recently.

Here’s just a few things you’ve been up to…

Mental Health Champion

Mental health champions networking

If there’s one thing running and keeping fit is great for, it’s your mental health.

Our collective wellbeing has been challenged like never before by the pandemic this year, so it’s more important than ever to care for yourself and others.

Step Forward With Lewis is proud to say that we have our very own Mental Health Champion in Claire Hedges.

Earlier this month, she took part in a Mental Health Champion networking session – here’s a quick message about the event from Claire:

Last night I took part in the Mental Health Champion networking session and Time to Talk planning. Met some amazing people and have some fab ideas for things we can do!

Looking forward to the next one already!

Thank you to Liz Purbeck who organised it all, for providing an interpreter, Frances, and thank you to Michelle for appointing me to be a Mental Health Champion.

Rudolf and Santa runners

We’ve had so many of you doing a great job taking on our festive challenges to earn your Rudolf and Santa medals.

Well done to everyone who has taken part!

I received a testimonial recently from a police person I have recently been working with to help them pass their work fitness test…

I approached Michelle to prepare me for a work related fitness test that I had always struggled with but with covid and the closure of gyms I was particularly anxious about this years test.

Michelle set me a plan for November/December which included Fartlek sessions, hiit classes and the odd rest day! With her guidance and encouragement I completed the test this year with confidence. Thank you Michelle for your help and encouragement and even making exercise fun!

Keep on running!

Finally, a couple of fantastic achievements I just have to mention.

Peter Vickers has been on a running mission this year, and he recently reached the 1,000 mile marker for 2020 – an absolutely fantastic effort and we look forward to Peter being able to finish his first marathon in 2021 when the Covid restrictions are hopefully a thing of the past.

And we’ll finish where we started this week with another fabulous achievement from Claire Hedges.

Claire has been a running regular with us for a while now, as well as enjoying our bootcamp sessions. It must all be working because, along with her efforts at WeightWatchers she’s looking super trim… not to mention super speedy!

This week she smashed the 30 minute marker at not parkrun. I think they’ll be a few PBs when the real event returns, and Claire will be right at the front of them!
